Free Giant Pumpkin Growing Class

Tuesday, May 6th at 7:00 PM

Nowthen Historic Town Hall

Free Giant Pumpkin Growing class will be held on Tuesday, May 6th at 7:00 pm at the Nowthen Historic Town Hall.

If you’ve been to the Nowthen Heritage Festival the last several years, then you are familiar with the giant pumpkin contest we hold each fall at the Festival, hosted by our very own Chris Brown.

Chris Brown, who is a Guinness Book of World Record holder for his giant vegetables, will be sharing his step-by-step instructions for how to grow a 1,000 pound pumpkin.

You can bring home “Giant Pumpkin” plants & seeds, plant them, care for them, and grow them into the biggest pumpkins you have ever seen. This will be a fun and informative class and will get you excited for the growing season.

According to Chris “the best place on earth to grow a giant pumpkin is right here in Nowthen, Minnesota.”

Saturday, September 27, 2025

The festival is held at the Nowthen Memorial Park. Parking, admission, and festival activities are free!

Since 2008, the Nowthen Heritage Festival volunteer committee has organized the festival

to "Celebrate Community, Family, and Friends".

The Festival is a wonderful way to showcase our city's history, talents, and residents.

Most of our vendors are from Nowthen, so it's a great way to shop local too.

Come enjoy a pancake breakfast under the big tent, live music, petting zoo, inflatables, Farmer's Market, and activities throughout the day, and end with the "best fireworks show around".
